Lidiya Ruslanova was singing songs together with the Cossack chorus when the Reichstag was finally conquered. The song “Valenki” spreaded far on the Soviet-German territories. Even George Zhukov applauded to Lidiya! The Russian spirit flew everywhere: the soldiers of allied armies were singing quietly together with the Russians. These songs, the beauty of national motives, as well as spiritual wealth of the severe Russian soldiers who came here, leveled the horror of war. The music became the background while signing the act of capitulation.

The documentary “Berlin. May, 1945” tells a story about the unique phenomenon in the world culture – the Russian Soviet front songs.
